From his mother Maria’s kitchen in Sorrento, through 17 years in his own London restaurant, to welcoming guests at Tierra Fina. This is the story behind Sal’s Italian Kitchen.
THE FAMILY ALBUM
The youngest of five. Always beside Mum.
Sal grew up in Sorrento, the baby of five children. He always loved helping his mum, Maria, in the kitchen. His love of food began there, with family and the pleasure of making something together.
The family photographs tell their own story: birthdays gathered around a cake, a busy kitchen, and Sal as a baby in his high chair, with his brother Nello in their father’s arms.
Today, that story continues at Tierra Fina. Our home, Casa Maria, is named after Sal’s mother. Here in the Andalusian hills, he shares the cooking he loves in a warm, personal way—with space to ask, taste and join in.

BACK TO SORRENTO
Always room at the family table.
Every year, Sal returns to Sorrento to spend time with his family. They get together, cook together and gather around the table, keeping the family’s love of food very much alive.

A LIFE IN THE KITCHEN
From a busy service to the family table.
Sal went on to own and cook in his Italian restaurant in London for 17 years. These photographs follow the same love of cooking through restaurant service, baking days and meals at home.
There is the concentration of a busy kitchen, and the smile when it is time to enjoy the company. Both are part of Sal’s story.

THE REASON FOR IT ALL
Food brings everyone together.
When family comes to stay, Sal is in his element: preparing pizza together, serving a generous dish of pasta, or putting a roast on the table. The meal is time to gather, talk and enjoy being together.
It is the same pleasure he shares through Sal’s Italian Kitchen: the care that goes into making food, and the company that makes it worth sharing.
